JANSSEN PERFORMANCE HORSES

Bob Janssen will be showing reining horses this week at the North Central Reining Horse Association show, July 31-Aug 3, at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. With a cutting show the following weekend, and cutting futurities just around the corner, he’ll be travelling back and forth to Lindstrom and riding cutters between showing.  If you are at the fairgrounds, look us up and say hello. 

We’re on our way home from the MCHA cutting in Nevis, MN. We experienced challenging weather (tornado warnings, high winds the whole weekend and lots of rain) and even more challenging cattle, but the Lewis family went all out to create a fun weekend for everyone.  They fed the entire crowd with a fabulous hog-roast and buffet on Saturday night.

While the cattle won more than normal this time out, there were team JPH successes to celebrate:

Bob Janssen took first and second in the $10,000 Novice Horse, on Sunny Rey Solano  (owned by Bob & Anita) and JTS Aristocrat (owned by Catherine Hazelroth) respectively.

The second time Bob took Sunny Rey Solano in the pen, a cow took him on so aggressively that it became entangled with the horse’s bridle. After a tussle, the cow returned to the herd and the tattered bridle landed in the dirt, leaving Bob in the middle of an unexpected bridleless demo!

Catherine Hazelroth finished second in the $50,000 Amateur on JTS Aristocrat.

Brittany Staeck finished first and second in the Youth, and second in the $2000 Limited Rider, riding Colord By Vandals (owned by Bob & Anita).

A special congratulations to Mina Spalla, who won the Rookie class on her first time in the cutting pen, riding Hollys Prince Jewel, owned by her and her husband, Jim.

Jim Spalla took home checks in the $2000 limited rider (4th place) and $3000 Novice Horse Non-Pro (third place) riding Hollys Prince Jewel.

And finally JPH assistant Renea Meyer placed 3rd in the $2000 LImited Rider on Smart Chicaway daughter, Smart Chic Hoo Does.  

Janssen Performance Horses is on the road July 11-13 in Nevis, MN at a Minnesota Cutting Horse Association cutting.  Bob will be showing his Limited Aged Event horses (4, 5 & 6 year-olds) on Friday, followed by a full slate of classes for the weekend.
